Hello friends! Today I would like to introduce to you the Second deck Officer's duties and responsibilities on the ship:
      
       Second deck Officer's duties and responsibilities 

       A)   Performs bridge and watches and acts as the understudy of the Chief Officer;

     
B)   Custodian of Navigational Charts and publications, naval equipment, log abstract, medical and hospital stores and spares;


C)   Help the Chief Officer in the supervision of cargo handling work;


D)   Inspections the steering gear and checks safety at the stern of the ship during mooring operations, before leaving port and during shifting operations;


E)   Give instructions to crew member at the stern of the ship during mooring operations;


F)    Maintain navigational instruments and steering gear;


G)   Revise and keep charts and other nautical publications, enter into specific forms details of investigations relating to navigation, channels, harbors and weather conditions;


H)   Keep reference documents related to navigation, channels, harbors, weather conditions and collect latest navigation information and reports the same to the Master;


I)     Enters important information in Log Abstracts;


J)    Distribute work for the maintenance of navigational equipment;


K)   (Maintains GMDSS equipment and conducts operating test once a week;)


L)    (In-charge of telex, fax and telephone operations;)


M)  (In-charge of the maintenance of emergency battery system, checks charging system daily and inspects water lever once a week;)


      Above items K-M shall be applied ship without radio officer.
