Hello friends! Today I would like to introduce to you the Second deck Officer's duties and responsibilities on the ship:
      
  Third deck Officer's duties and responsibilities 

      A)   Performs bridge and port watch; keeps all life saving and fire fighting equipment; determines arrival/departure condition; keeps stores and spares and acts as an understudy of the Second Officer;

   
B)   Fixed ship position and gets navigational calculations every day while ship is underway and report the result to the Master;


C)   Prepare mid-day reports, navigation statistics, conditions and reports important items to the Chief Engineers;


D)   Helps the Chief Officer in supervising cargo handling operations;


E)   Revise shipboard time and manage ship time alarm;


F)    Measures draught;


G)   Helps the Master on the bridge with anchoring and mooring work;


H)   Inspects communications systems and important items relevant thereto on the bridge and other departments before leaving the port and make other similar preparations;


I)     Keep the Deck Log Book and enters record thereat when instructed and by superiors;


J)    Maintain Fire Fighting Appliances (FFA), Life Saving Appliances (LSA) with the close supervision of the Chief Officer;
