BOATSWAIN’S DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ON THE SHIP

   Hello friends! Today I would like to introduce to you the Boatswain's duties and responsibilities on the ship:

      
Boatswain's duties and responsibilities:

 A)   Heads the Deck Crewmembers; Supervises the Maintenance of the Deck; Monitors deck stores and spares, hatch covers, deck cargo lash and other duties assigned to him by the Master;

B)   To guide and supervise subordinates and assists the Chief Officer;

C)   Delegate to deck crewmembers the various tasks assigned by the Chief Officer;

D)   Make efforts to motivate his subordinates by guiding them with their work and report details to the Chief Officer;

E)   Work hand in hand with the leaders of the other department onboard;

F)    Responsible for the maintenance of parts, accessories and tools;

G)   Distributes ship’s stores and devise ways of cutting down cost on the consumption of his items;

H)   Perform shipboard repair;

I)     Submit to Chief Officer accomplishment report for each voyage, as per maintenance plan;

J)    Record jobs carried out by the Deck Department;

K)   Ensure that subordinates have complete knowledge of various orders, rules and notifications;

L)    Assist during bunkering when instructed by the Chief Officer;
